Ready to Boost Your Brain Power? Listen to Podcasts!

Suggestions from the Senior Care Team at Wesley Enhanced Living

Many Baby Boomers may recall sitting around the radio with their families, listening to the radio. You might still have your favorite tunes swimming in your head from your teen years. For decades, the radio has served as a conduit for news, sports, songs, and stories. How many times did you tap your fingers on the wheel and sing along with the Beatles, James Taylor, or The Doors? Similarly, today’s audience listens to podcasts. If you are not familiar with the term, these are pre-recorded radio shows that can be found online, downloaded, and enjoyed at your leisure.

There is more to a podcast than just a few shows from the same names you hear over the airwaves. Noted personalities create these shows that focus on a wide range of topics. You can use them for personal growth, entertainment, inspiration, and to learn new ideas and interests. The team at Wesley Enhanced Living encourages our residents to engage in life one-on-one and to never stop learning.

How to Find a Podcast that is Right for You?

Listening to a podcast is easy; however, finding the right shows may take a little more time. Before you can search for the show you want, you need a podcast player. If you are using a smartphone, you can download a player app and listen via your phone. Have a family member or staff at Wesley Enhanced Living help you find the app that works with your phone. For iPhone users, there is an app built into your phone. For Android users, look for Google Play Music. Both are free.

Once installed, the app will give you the ability to search for shows based on topics. Each one will also give you suggestions of the most popular podcasts in different genres. Click on the one you want to hear and enjoy!
