Warminster, PA (January 13, 2022) — Wesley Enhanced Living (WEL) Main Line rang in the new year as the first Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in the Philadelphia region to enlist the help of robots for autonomous food service.

This unique technology, called “Matradee” by Richtech Robotics, is an amenity that brings convenience to senior residents. Two robots will offer easy access food delivery for senior residents in Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line’s dining room.

“Our mission is to provide innovation in aging services, which is why we’re paving the way for CCRCs across the country to create more accessibility options for seniors. A major benefit of this technology is that it enables us to continue to provide an enjoyable dining experience while managing our industry-wide staffing shortages. The ‘Matradees’ are just one example of what the future will look like,” said Mike DeStefon, executive director of Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line.

The “Matradee” has designated tiers to hold trays of food. It uses a GPS to move around the room and the advanced software plots out table configurations. It is capable of scanning the environment to avoid bumping into people and obstacles while it travels on its own. An additional bonus is that it sings the “Happy Birthday” song to senior residents.

Richtech’s cutting edge solutions are used by brands all over the globe including Hilton, Nike and Keurig Dr Pepper.

Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line senior residents are among the very first people to experience this technology in the country. For more information visit www.WEL.org.
