Newest Artist Spotlight Series features Tish Mayo’s water color paintings of Ridley Creek State Park MEDIA, PA (July 5, 2016) — Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line will continue the community’s popular and long running Artist Spotlight Series in July with Tish Mayo’s “The Artist at Ridley Creek State Park” exhibit. The display, which runs from July 2 to July 31, is open to Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line residents and visitors all month long. Additionally, there will be an exclusive one-night-only wine reception on Monday, July 18th at 6:30 pm followed by a lecture by Mayo 7:00 pm. Tish Mayo lives in the “Mill Dam Cottage” in the beautiful Ridley Creek State Park, where she paints the charming historic buildings. Rich with personal and community history, Mayo fell in love with the area growing up on her family farm adjacent to the park, and looks back fondly on stories her grandmother, once a teacher in the schoolhouse on the property, would tell of the park. In the mid 60’s Mayo returned to the park and rented one of the houses in Sycamore Mills, where she began this painting collection. Eventually she moved away from the park and did not return until retiring in 2006, once again continuing her paintings. She has sold hundreds of these works that are now currently displayed in collections all over the United States and Europe. “It’s interesting to see the development and change in Tish’s perspective over time,” said Linda Sterthous, Executive Director of Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line.  “She brings to light how the area, as well as her view of the surroundings has grown.  Many of our residents are local and have fond, relatable memories of the park.” The Artist Spotlight Series remains a popular community benefit since its introduction in 2012. It was originally created to enable Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line residents to experience art right in their own community. The program has since grown into a robust and highly anticipated community event each month.
