Oscar Barker, resident of Wesley Enhanced Living Doylestown, still enjoys sitting down with his brushes to creative beautiful pictures on canvas! He studied under Libit Jones, a commercial artist who had just recently decided to go into the fine arts. Oscar was one of her early students and both have stuck with the medium ever since. Libit went on to become president of the Florida Watercolor Society.
In the past, Oscar painted landscapes that came directly from his travels. Today, he enjoys selecting photographs to provide inspiration for his paintings.
We fulfilled a WEL Wish of Oscar’s by hosting a black-bow tie art opening featuring only Oscar’s watercolors. Residents, friends and family were invited to the special event. Oscar was thrilled to see how many came to see his art and hear his inspiration.
