When WWII emerged, Mary’s brother was eager to enlist in the Army, however, a heart condition prevented him from doing so.  In an effort to fill her brother’s shoes, Mary left High School and answered the call of duty and enlisted as a WAAC.  As a proud member of the elite Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps, she proudly supported our soldiers and served our country.  All these year later, Mary still regretted missing her high school graduation.  Therefore, dressed in cap and gown, in the presence of the entire community and a local High School Choir, Mary was presented with her Honorary Diploma.
