A PROUD HISTORY

135+ Years of Excellence in Senior Living

We proudly trace our roots back to 1888 when the Evangelical Association of Churches established a senior living residence in Philadelphia. This community was later named Evangelical Manor and is today known as Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park.

In 1985, Evangelical Manor acquired Heritage Towers, our current Doylestown location. Ten years later, we added another property in Northeast Philadelphia, Pilgrim Gardens- which became our Burholme community (until its services were folded into our other locations in 2023) – along with Maple Village in Hatboro, PA, our current Upper Moreland community.

We rebranded in 2004 as Wesley Enhanced Living. This evolution is a nod to our faith-based origins as well as to our mission of creating environments that empower residents to stay engaged, connected, and fulfilled.

From 2007-2012, we implemented an $80 million renovation of our four communities. During this time, we also acquired Wesley Enhanced Living Stapeley and embarked upon a multimillion-dollar revitalization of this location.

In 2015, we welcomed Martin’s Run in Media, PA, now Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line, to our organization. By 2020, we had completed extensive transformations of Main Line, as well as our Doylestown and Upper Moreland residences. These transformations included stylish lobbies, fancy bistros, and welcoming common areas and recreation spaces.

As a non-profit, our guiding principle is continuous reinvestment in our communities, updating infrastructure, and expanding services and amenities for our seniors. We look forward to continuing this long tradition of providing enhanced living to seniors.
