Easter and springtime greetings to all! You’re aware of what they say about riding a bike. You never forget, so even after a sedentary period, to climb back on is to find that one still knows how to ride. Returning as Executive Director and Administrator is a little like this. In case anyone wants to know, I enjoy retirement very much and have many items now waiting for enthusiastic attention. But for now, I’m pleased to be back to assist during this transition period. We plan on keeping you informed as to progress on the search process for a permanent Executive Director.
Having come through the worst of a once-in-a-lifetime (for most) experience of pandemic means that all, from just about every life setting, are exhausted. Though I believe that we will never ‘return to normal’ in ways that will let us forget the experience let alone fully put it behind us, we journey together to continue to evolve safe practices to both address current threats and to find those smart practices that need to be permanent in our lives together.
That said, our intent is to keep you as residents, employees and family members – the community – informed of the developments and practices on which we’re focused. Increasingly, we want to utilize our website for specific and timely information, as well as procedures we want you to follow. To be clear, access this way:
https://www.WELorg > under news and community updates > click community updates > click Wesley Enhanced Living Doylestown LOGIN > enter password: DTWesley. From here you may read community updates and see other dated information. You may also click on Independent living community¸ Personal Care Community, or Skilled Nursing Community for visitation scheduling via Sign Up Genius and other specific information. |
Furthermore, you may always phone the community to speak with a department leader or me, by calling our main number, 215-345-4300. Leave a message if we can’t pick up and we’ll return your call as soon as possible.
COVID 19
Cases in Bucks county have been on a steep rise and the announced positivity rate is 11.0% (4/4/2021) which is the 4th straight week for increase. Because of this, we are suspending visits to Skilled Nursing Center IMMEDIATELY. There have been no changes in other precautionary policies or visitation practices. But all is under review.
BUILDING.
We’re in the process of switching over our major HVAC systems from heat to air conditioning the week of April 5 and expect to be fully functioning by the end of the week.
The new emergency call system for apartments is in process of being installed. Instruction for residents on use of new individual call buttons (that will replace the wall mounted pull cords) begins this week and we expect that the system will be activated the following.
I continue to be pleased and impressed by the dedication and tenacity of the various work teams in the building. These are still the heroes of the pandemic months. But so too are residents for how you patiently endured and support one another as you are able. Best to all.
Steven T. Cherry, nha
Interim Executive Director
