As this situation continues to linger with no clear end in sight, I would like to take a moment to recognize again the impact on all of us. Many of our Residents have experienced reduced contact and interaction with family and other loved ones. The pressure of maintaining all the necessary precautions continues to weigh on all of us. The effect of the situation on our Employees is difficult at times also. We continue to focus significant effort on recruiting and hiring new Employees and like most of the world we are having difficulties. As an example, we recently had 21 confirmed interviews scheduled, of those 21, one person showed up. Our Employees are working extremely hard to minimize the impact on the lives of our Residents and some are doing so at the cost of time with their families and stress on their health. Please show our Employees grace when you can and understanding when needed.
On a positive note, we have no new positives this week and 100% of all our Employees are vaccinated or have a valid exemption (there are only three Employees with exemptions).
At this moment in time, booster vaccination recommendations for the long-term care population have been at least temporarily rescinded, and currently a booster is only recommended for immunocompromised people. Tracking of the on-going effectiveness of the vaccine in older adults and those in nursing homes by the various federal agencies continues and I will keep you informed of any changes.
