Update for all WEL Main Line Residents and Staff– 5/14/2021

We have no new positive cases in the Pines, our Personal Care.  We completed our second benchmark test today due to the staff positive 2 weeks ago and have no expectation of any change in status.

We have no positive cases in the Meadows, our Skilled Nursing Facility.

We have no positive cases in Independent Living.

We have no new positive cases with our staff.

As a reminder, we have a vaccine clinic on May 19th onsite.  This clinic will be a second shot for new residents who got a first shot last month and new staff members who got their first shot last month and we will also provide a first shot for any new staff or residents since last month and any staff or resident’s family members that are interested in getting a shot.  If you know anyone who in interested and has not scheduled a time yet, please reach out and we can add them to our list.

As some of you may have heard, the CDC has loosened mask wearing for those who have vaccinated.  This is wonderful news for the push towards the new normal.  I do have to mention that part of the guidance relates to congregate settings, such as our community.  We are very well vaccinated in both residents and staff and the level of risk is certainly low.  But we also have residents that are compromised to some degree, so even if you feel safe and empowered by your vaccine status, I would ask everyone to recognize that you may have a neighbor that may not be there yet.  I do think this is a sign that we are soon going to see everyone’s face out from behind a mask more regularly, but I would ask for some more patience.  We do have Memorial Day coming in 2 weeks and this may be a good bellwether for ongoing loosening here in our community.  If the cases and positivity rate stays low through a holiday, that’s good!  I will say that we are always discussing the next steps as a clinical team.  A very good sign right now is that the positivity rate in Delco for this past week is 3.7% which is the first time it has been below 5% since late 2020.  I would ask everyone who receives this memo to make an effort to keep pushing those you know who have not received the vaccine to do their part!  It is obvious that it is working!  Thank you all for your attention to these memos and your thoughtful questions.  I’m hopeful for a wonderful summer season!
