Resident Phone message 5-3-2020

Dear Residents and Families of Upper Moreland and Burholme,

This is Maureen Casey and I am calling with an update. Firstly, both Burholme and Upper Moreland continue to be negative for COVID 19 both for residents and employees.  I know that to some of our residents, the policies and protocols we have put into place seem excessive and burdensome.  To that I say we are taking your health and safety and the threat of COVID 19 with the utmost seriousness; we are and will continue to do everything we can to keep our residents and staff healthy and safe.

I know that parts of western Pennsylvania are reopening this week; this does not include Philadelphia nor Montgomery County as these counties were the hardest hit for cases and deaths. Our Leadership team is developing plans for an eventual re-opening.  Like the governor’s plan for Pennsylvania, the plan for Burholme and Upper Moreland will be staged, planned and controlled.    Though we are planning a staged re-opening, we know for sure that if COVID 19 were to be present in either Burholme or Upper Moreland, we would move to an immediate plan of requiring all residents to quarantine in their apartments.

On a fun note, we have had an outdoor entertainer, Irish Dancers and Spirit Week with residents and staff dressed for the themes. One resident took the theme Inside Out to new heights and wore his underwear over his clothes. It gave everyone the laugh we needed!  We also had a wonderful “Clap In” recognition of our employee heros at Upper Moreland with an overwhelming response of Thank You notes from Residents and Families! We will have our “Clap In” at Burholme this week so it’s not too late to get in your Thank You notes to the staff.

We know that Mother’s Day is Sunday May 10th and we are working on a plan and will share it early this week.  If you wish to send a gift/flowers, we will accept deliveries from florists and other businesses through this week and on the weekend.

I must continue to recognize our amazing staff for their dedication and smiles.  They are a gift to all of us.

Again I thank you all and wish you continued health.
