Wesley Enhanced Living Commends Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick for Introducing the Medicare Residential Care Coordination Act of 2015

Hatboro, PA  (February 12, 2015) — Wesley Enhanced Living CEO Jeff Petty today praised U.S. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-PA, 8th District) for the introduction of H.R. 837, a proposal that would allow the residents of continuing care retirement communities to receive Medicare services through care coordination onsite. The Medicare Residential Care Coordination Act of 2015 was introduced by Fitzpatrick on Feb. 10 to provide better care for seniors, as well as a substantial savings to the government. The bill will help save money for Medicare and Medicaid and lower the operational barriers to the best possible care, by enabling testing of models like WELShift, a new senior housing and health care model developed by Wesley Enhanced Living, owner and operator of eight senior living communities in Pennsylvania. “By paving the way for new service delivery models, such as WELShift, Rep. Fitzpatrick and the bill’s cosponsors join Wesley Enhanced Living in meeting senior housing and health care needs while demonstrating fiscal responsibility with taxpayer resources,” said Petty. Rep. Fitzpatrick said, “Continuing care retirement communities in Pennsylvania and around the country are equipped to serve seniors at the right time, in the right setting. This proposal would enable these communities to continue providing seniors and their families with accessible, affordable long-term care plans.” Additional sponsors of the Medicare Residential Care Coordination Act of 2015 include:
  • Rep. Kelly, Mike (R-PA-3rd district)
  • Rep. Cartwright, Matt (D-PA-17th district)
