Wesley Enhanced Living Ranks Among Top Three Best Workplaces for Aging Services™ According to Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE

Warminster, PA (December 17, 2020) — Great Place to Work and FORTUNE have named Wesley Enhanced Living as one of the top three 2020 Best Workplaces for Aging Services in the country. Wesley Enhanced Living is a non-profit organization operating six continuing care retirement communities across the Greater Philadelphia region. Wesley Enhanced Living is the only Pennsylvania-based aging services provider to have made the FORTUNE list in the Senior Housing and Care – Large category.

Wesley Enhanced Living earned the third spot out of twenty providers ranked in the Senior Housing and Care – Large category. WEL moved up several spots from their recognition in the sixth spot on the list last year.

After analyzing and evaluating employee surveys, Great Place to Work and FORTUNE ranked each organization based on employee experience feedback related to levels of trust, respect and fairness within the organization.

“Ranking in the top three Best Workplaces for Aging Services confirms the outstanding efforts by our incredibly dedicated WEL team members to provide quality care to our senior residents," said Jeff Petty, president and chief executive officer of Wesley Enhanced Living. “In a year like no other, we are so proud of our employees and the sense of community that we have cultivated at our WEL locations.”

Wesley Enhanced Living employee results showed:

  • 90% of respondents felt like they make a difference at Wesley Enhanced Living.
  • 90% of respondents felt their work had special meaning.
  • 90% of respondents felt a sense of pride when they look at what we accomplish.

“We are so grateful to our team for their commitment to enhancing the lives of not only our residents, but one another,” said Petty.

Wesley Enhanced Living was also named a Best Workplace for Aging Services in 2019 and 2018.

“The value of creating great workplaces for all is a clear competitive edge in the Aging Services sector,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “When organizations like Wesley Enhanced Living treat their own people with care and respect, you can expect their staff to treat your loved ones with that same care.”

“The effect of engaged employees has magnified in the aging sector, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Jacquelyn Kung, CEO of Activated Insights, the senior care company of Great Place to Work. “We have found that organizations that have maintained or increased employee engagement during this year’s challenges have been able to be more resilient, provide enhanced care, and perform better.”

The Best Workplaces for Aging Services™ is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations.

Bucks and Montgomery County Seniors Zipline Through the Pennsylvania Sky

Senior residents of Wesley Enhanced Living communities enjoyed a ‘zippy’ outdoor adventure

Warminster, Pa. (September 17, 2020) – This month, senior residents of Wesley Enhanced Living (WEL) Doylestown and Upper Moreland communities participated in a sky-high ziplining adventure coasting down two 4,000 ft.-long ziplines in the Pocono Mountains.

This excursion marks the fourth annual ziplining trip to Camelback Mountain Resort in Tannersville, Pa. The first annual outing was inspired by a WEL Doylestown resident who had a dream of one day going ziplining. Her dream was fulfilled through WEL Wishes, a  program designed to encourage and support senior residents in fulfilling their lifelong dreams.

“Each year, our team looks forward to coordinating this ziplining trip for the senior residents,” said Lisa Haino, Director of Marketing Communications and Special Events at Wesley Enhanced Living. “Seeing residents light up with joy and excitement when opportunities like this arise is delightful. At WEL, we focus on not only encouraging residents to share their dreams with us, but we also provide support as they pursue their passion – that is what makes our organization so special.”

Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland senior residents
raise over $11,000 to support local students

This year marks over $100,000 fundraised through scholarship program and awarded to student employees at the senior living community

Warminster, Pa. (August 19, 2020) – Through fundraising efforts over the past year, $11,000 in scholarship money was generously provided by senior residents of Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland to financially support the dreams of local students pursuing higher education.

Through this ServeWEL scholarship program, 11 dining employees at WEL Upper Moreland will be awarded $1,000 scholarships to put toward their college education.

“Our employees make such a positive and lasting impact on the beloved residents. Our WEL communities wouldn’t be the same without these young, dedicated team members,” stated Lisa Haino, Director of Marketing Communications and Special Events at Wesley Enhanced Living. “The ServeWEL scholarship program shows our gratitude and appreciation for these hard-working and outstanding high school juniors and seniors who support our residents and other staff members.”

In 2006, the senior residents of WEL Upper Moreland established the ServeWEL scholarship program, an effort dedicated to providing scholarships to support student employees of the senior living community. Each year, residents plan fundraising projects and events to collect donations from other residents, residents’ families and WEL staff members. Now in its 14th year, the ServeWEL program has awarded over $100,000 in scholarship money.

“Each of these employees has shown their dedication to enhancing the lives of seniors. We hope that these scholarships serve as a reminder to them that the residents and staff of WEL Upper Moreland are supporting them from afar as they pursue their dreams,” said Haino.
