Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line Celebrates Local Artist in February

MEDIA, PA (January 23, 2017) — Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line will continue the community’s popular and long-running Artist Spotlight Series in February with the artwork of local artist, Debra Wagner. The display, which begins February 1 at Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line located at 100 Halcyon Drive in Media, Pa., is open to residents and visitors until February 26. Wagner will address, “Forging, Welding and Collagraph Processes” during an exclusive one-night-only wine reception and lecture event on February 13 at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. “We always are looking for creative artist to bring to our residential community, and we’ve met Debra through interactions with her mother and WEL Main Line resident, Irene Wagner,” said Linda Sterthous, Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line executive director. “Irene had Debra’s art hanging in her apartment, and she loved talking about her creative daughter. Unfortunately Irene passed away in May, but Debra wanted to honor her mother’s memory by displaying her art here at WEL Main Line. We were thrilled to welcome Debra back.” Throughout February, residents and visitors will enjoy a varied display featuring several of Wagner’s works. Wagner, who worked in the social work profession for 41 years, began experimenting in arts and crafts as a hobby. She discovered passion for sculpture, wall hangings and making furniture out of steel. She began collecting scrap from flea markets, junk yards and the side of the road. She eventually bought her own welder and hand tools and set up a junkyard and workshop in her basement. “I decided to display some of my creations in honor of my mother who passed away in May,” said Debra Wagner. “She had three pieces of my art hanging in her apartment, and she also was one of my biggest promoters.” To reserve a seat at the exclusive reception on Monday, February 13, or for more information on Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line’s Artist Spotlight Series, please contact program coordinator, Amy Blum at 610.353.7660 ext. 254 or email ablum@wel.org.   About Wesley Enhanced Living (WEL) The non-profit Wesley Enhanced Living (WEL) continuing care communities have a dedicated mission to deliver a purpose-filled life to residents.
