We chose Wesley Enhanced Living Burholme for my relative. They’re excellent. It’s a smaller community of about 60 residents. The staff is very interactive, and they all understand each other’s jobs. So there’s always someone to do whatever services need. They’re very aware of everyone who is living there and their needs. We have had an excellent experience with them as far as being able to furnish an apartment for our relative while he acquires his own furniture. He has gotten good medical attention so that his diabetes has stabilized, and his health has improved. A very good plus for him is that he’s kind of a man’s man, and about 60 percent of their residents are men. They have good food and it helped his health. It’s affordable for us. We moved him from their largest studio to a small room he can afford. It’s not cramped compared to other places we’ve visited. It’s called a small room but it’s not really small. He has plenty of room for everything he needs in there and has a deck. A housekeeper comes in. My relative is a bachelor so he’s a slob, but they’ve managed to make it look comfortable and clean. There’s a lot of activities, I think it’s a quiet place because there’s not a lot of independent living there so it’s not as lively as other places. But they’re very nice people who don’t appear to have advanced dementia or things like that. They have a bus and go on outings and a little bank there that he could put his own money into. We’ve gotten support along the way. I have nothing negative to say about this place. It’s pretty, doesn’t look institutional, is very homey, spacious, and full of light. The food looks very fresh and nutritious.
