Residents and Families,
This week we are going to share some data with you as knowledge can be very reassuring. Our first positive case of COVID-19 with regards to our Residents occurred on April 9, 2020. Since this date, we have 53 other Residents who have tested positive out of our total 210 Residents. Our first Employee tested positive on 3/27/2020 and 47 additional Employees out of our 225 total have tested positive since that date.
Employees and many Residents continue to improve. We have had only one new Employee test positive since 4/28/2020. Sadly, three Residents have passed away in the last week. Our hearts remain heavy for those Residents we have lost to this pandemic, and we continue to send our thoughts to family members and friends.
You may have heard on the news that the Department of Health is recommending that all Residents and Employees in Health Care Centers be tested for COVID-19. Making the recommendation is only first step. The next step DOH needs to take will be to create a process where the test kit are actually available. This hasn’t occurred yet, we will let you know when this begins.
We continue with our stringent infection control processes as indicated by the CDC including testing of Residents and Employees as indicated, isolation, appropriate use of personal protection equipment, and constant, constant hand washing. We look forward to returning to a semblance of our former normal.
Please take care of yourselves, and we will be in touch again soon.
