WEL Upper Moreland Update 8/20/2021
Dear Residents, Families and Staff,
As I announced yesterday at the Resident Council meeting, we were informed that one of our cottage residents who is fully vaccinated has tested positive for COVID-19 after being tested due to having COVID-19 symptoms. The resident is recuperating while quarantined in their cottage.
The positivity rates for Pennsylvania have increased from 6% to 6.9% in the past week. For Montgomery County the positivity rate has increased to 4.8% from 4.2%. These changes are very alarming.
We continue to monitor the number of changes to the CDC-COVID guidance including the increased need for use of masks while indoors. Montgomery County has mandated that masks be worn indoors at all public areas regardless of vaccination status. Our visitation protocols remain the same. Maximum of 6 visitors, visitation in the resident’s apartment, masks worn by all throughout the community, no visitation in dining room or common areas. Visitors and guests may continue to dine in the Byberry Bistro and drink at The WEL.
We are monitoring the status of booster shots that will become available September 20th. We have two pharmacies that have offered to provide clinics for us. We will keep you informed when we have more information.
Wesley Enhanced Living (WEL) remains committed to the health and safety of our residents, employees, and visitors. WEL has mandated that all employees receive a completed series of the COVID -19 vaccine by September 1, 2021.
I would ask everyone who receives this memo to try to keep encouraging those you know who have not received the vaccine to do their part! Please vaccinate, don’t procrastinate. At one local hospital there were 325 patients in critical care due to COVID-19. Of the 325 patients, 12 were vaccinated and 313 were not vaccinated. It is obvious that vaccinations work! If a resident or staff member become vaccinated, please notify us so that we can register your vaccination.
You can obtain your vaccine through the following link: https://www.vaccines.gov/search/
Thank you and stay WEL!
