COVID-19 Update for all WEL Main Line Residents and Staff – 4/11/2020

As many of you are aware, we are unfortunately in the teeth of the viral spread.  We have had positive test results with both staff and residents and now in multiple units, both Meadows and Independent Living.  All those residents who tested positive are quarantined and recovering.  Delaware County is also seeing a surge in cases, and as such testing kits are in short supply.  We are relatively well stocked with masks and gloves with more on the way, however we will need to be vigilant on our usage due to the national shortages.

For the foreseeable future, we are now requesting that all residents stay in their apartments and if you absolutely have to come out, wear a mask.  We will be providing a mask for any resident who does not have one either today or tomorrow.  It will be in a white WEL bag on your doorknob.  Please take good care of the masks as they are very scarce.

We are also stopping housekeeping services for the next 2 weeks as well.  Please place any trash outside your door and we will collect and place your laundry outside in a bag and we will drop off clean laundry.  If you need anything, please contact the front desk and we will work to assist you in your request. The housekeepers will be cleaning community areas and staff areas.  You will also see a decrease in some staff so we can keep track of our PPE supplies.  Most direct to IL residents will be the Enhanced Living staff.  They will be making their contacts by phone rather than door to door for the next couple of weeks.

If you have any concern about symptoms (fever, dry cough, flu like), please call us.  We have a nursing assistant here overnight to get vitals from you in your apartment if necessary, as well as security.  This is the peak time right now and we made it this far together.  Let’s hang together and see this through to the other side.  And keep our direct care staff in your thoughts and prayers.  They are putting themselves in harm’s way every day and we could not be more appreciative.
