At Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley, the health and well-being of our residents and employees remains paramount, especially during these uncertain and challenging times. Late yesterday, we received a positive test result for COVID-19, known as the coronavirus, for one of our residents in our Health Care Center. The test was administered on March 25 after the resident presented a fever. The following day, the fever subsided, and the resident’s symptoms remain minimal. However, in the interest of safety for all, this resident has been and continues to be in quarantine in our community along with this individual’s roommate. Both are receiving care from a very limited number of our team members, and we continue to take every precaution to limit the possible spread of this virus and strictly observing the CDC’s guidelines.
At this time, no other residents or staff at Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley has testedpositive for the virus, and we are monitoring daily every resident in our Health Care Center for potential symptoms. Please understand that HIPAA regulations prevent us from sharing specific information about any resident’s condition or care.
Over the past few weeks, we have been closely tracking the course of the virus and following the CDC’s infection-control procedures to protect those in our community. As a reminder, we have greatly tightened our visitation and screening processes; permitting entry to only those who provide vital medical care. We also eliminated group activities, outings and group dining experiences. Individually, it is key to practice thorough hand washing and strict social distancing. Together, we must continue to be diligent in our collective efforts and actions to minimize the risk of contracting and spreading this illness to one another.
Residents who begin to experience symptoms such as a fever, cough or shortness of breath should inform a member of our WEL care team immediately.
We will continue to share updates with you as information becomes available, and we thank you for your continued support and vigilance during this unprecedented time.
