Executive Director COVID-19 update 3/02/2021

Dear Residents, Families and Employees: 

Our second vaccine clinic was another successful day.  We were able to vaccinate 172 Residents and 133 Employees with no significant reactions.  Thank you to the dedicated Team here at Stapeley that worked throughout the entire clinic, answering questions, providing care and support, and keeping things running smoothly.  A big thanks also to the Team from CVS who were extremely cooperative and visited all Residents in their homes.

If you are the POA for a Resident here and would like to hold onto the CDC vaccine card for your loved one, please call our Receptionist and make the request. Receiving our vaccines is a major step towards getting back to our normal lives. The important thing to remember is that the virus is still active and we need to maintain our safety protocols while we wait for the vaccine to be more prevalent and the virus to be weakened. 

We have not had a positive Resident case in IL or PC since January 9, 2021.  Our last positive Employee was 2/14; we had two positive Residents in Health Care on 2/25.  When we reach 28 days without a new case, we will begin to return to visitations and other activities.  Until then, wear your mask, wash your hands, keep your distance and stay safe.  FYI, its 18 days until spring and we turn the clocks ahead on 3/14.

COVID-19 Vaccine and Reopening update 3/1/2021

It’s a very hopeful time at Wesley Enhanced Living communities as vaccine distribution continues, with approximately 90% of residents in all communities having received one or both doses.

As local infection rates drop, and cases continue to decline in our communities, reopening plans will be communicated by each Executive Directors as appropriate.

We continue to practice safety protocols and procedures including mask wearing and social distancing, and will modify as conditions allow.

COVID-19 Update for all WEL Main Line Residents and Staff– 3/1/2021

We have had another positive in an IL resident.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.  This resident has also gotten the first dose of the vaccine, so the hope is that they will be provided protection from more severe symptoms.  We have begun the contact tracing in relation to both residents and staff who may have had close contact with this resident.  If you have not been notified, no close contact has been identified.  Please contact wellness if you show any signs or symptoms.

We have had one positive this week with our staff rapid testing.  This staff member does not have wide spread contact with multiple residents, but we will conduct contact tracing with other staff that may have come in contact

We continue to have no positives in the Pines.

We have no new positives in the Meadows. 

Our clinic tomorrow starts at 10 am for staff and will begin at 11 am for our residents.  As a reminder we will contact you directly when it is your time to come down for the shot.  We will have the same routine for this clinic, but we have all of the paperwork prepared ahead of time, so it should be even smoother. We will have coffee and snacks available for you while you wait the period of time for us to track your reactions and we will then send you back to your apartments so we can keep the train rolling.  We also have some activities planned in the Energy Club if you are too excited to return home!  Once again, this is the next step towards more normal circumstances, but we still need to keep our vigilance as we progress through these steps.

Wesley Enhanced Living Residents Receive
COVID-19 Vaccines

Warminster, PA (March 1, 2021) — Wesley Enhanced Living has reached an exciting milestone in offering the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to residents across its six senior living communities located across Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

“At Wesley Enhanced Living, we are committed to supporting our residents and staff members in living healthy, engaging and vibrant lives.” said Jeff Petty, president and chief executive officer at Wesley Enhanced Living. “After such a challenging year, working to coordinate and facilitate COVID-19 vaccination clinics has been a top priority for our team as we collectively work to establish a sense of normalcy again in our lives.”

In close coordination with county and pharmacy partners, all residents at each Wesley Enhanced Living community have had the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. As of March 1, nearly 90 percent of Wesley Enhanced Living residents have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, some have already received the second dose and additional vaccination clinics are planned in the coming weeks.

“Our leadership team is so proud of our residents, staff and their families. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we have felt a hopeful sense of positivity and optimism across all six of our communities,” said Petty. “We are thankful our resident vaccine-rollout program has been met with such enthusiasm, as we look forward to lifting certain restrictions – where appropriate – in the near future.”

Message to Residents and Residents’ Families from CEO Jeff Petty

Dear Wesley Enhanced Living Residents, Family Members and Friends,

As we approach one year since COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic, we are reflecting on all we have accomplished together despite the many challenges we’ve faced.

Without a doubt, 2020 has been one of the most challenging years for not only our WEL family, but for individuals of all ages around the world. We are proud of our team members for being so dedicated and driven to support our residents and each other. We are proud of our residents and their families for their resiliency as they continue to look to the future with optimism, adding to the sense of hope across our communities.

In late 2020 and early 2021, our team anticipated the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. While we experienced some challenges with the first round of COVID-19 vaccination clinics, these obstacles allowed our team to improve processes and adapt for additional clinics. Altogether, in conjunction with the CVS team, our staff assisted in facilitating vaccination clinics to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine across our communities.

I am excited to share that we have reached an important milestone. Over the past few months, we have successfully coordinated COVID-19 vaccination clinics at all our WEL communities across Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties for residents and staff. As of 2/26/2021, we are proud to announce that nearly 90% of all WEL residents have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. More than half of our team members have also received their first doses, and we are continuing to encourage even more participation.

We have coordinated closely with our pharmacy partner CVS, to administer second doses, as well as dates for additional clinics to ensure we provide additional opportunities for all to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

While recognizing we are not in full control of vaccine availability, we are working hard to keep momentum going beyond the initial rounds of vaccine clinics to vaccinate remaining and new residents and staff members. In line with this effort, we strive to institute a vaccine maintenance program together with our partners, which will enable us to have continued access to vaccines on an ongoing basis.

We remain confident that a robust vaccine program is a critical steppingstone on our journey back to normalcy.

Again, I commend our residents and their loved ones for their continued resolve. Our team is looking forward to welcoming our families back to our communities, as we move into a phase when restrictions are lifted, and we can safely enjoy all that we miss.

Executive Directors will continue to share updates regarding cases and vaccine clinic availability. Infection rates continue to drop in the counties that we serve, and we’ve seen the same trends in our communities, with cases declining to zero in some locations.
