As part of our ongoing effort to instill kindness in all we do, school supplies were collected at all WEL communities and the Corporate office as donations to students at Presentation BVM School in Cheltenham. The children were greeted by residents and staff from WEL Pennypack Park, and even enjoyed an early visit from Santa, since the collection was made through a “Christmas in July” effort!

Brian D. and Mike K., Saltwater Fishing

Name: Brian D. and Mike K.
WEL Wish: Saltwater Fishing

Mike, a resident at our Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley community, had always wanted to go deep sea fishing but didn't think it was a possibility for him. After submitting his WEL Wish to our staff, the perfect, wheelchair accessible, charter boat was found. Mike and his friend Brian set sail off the coast of Belmar, NJ, on the Golden Eagle, and had a terrific day fishing for bass, mackerel, and more. After a fruitful day of fishing, Executive Director and avid chef, Ken Beiler cooked the fish Brian and Mike caught at sea and they were able to enjoy a delicious meal.

Chris

My mother had Alzheimer's and spent her final years at Stapeley. In her time there, the nursing staff treated her with love and respect. Whenever I visited, my mom would be with the nurses and would be at ease and happy. They would give me updates about how mom was doing that day - good mood, bad mood, feisty, a little sad - they kept a good eye on her and I could tell. It meant and means a lot to me that they opened up their hearts to my mother.
